OVERVIEW
Runnin is a single by Maheer (USA) and John Concepcion (Canada), a two-time Grammy-nominated artist. The brief was emotional and specific: capture the feeling of a desperate run – the last chance to catch someone before they’re gone for good. Think romcom airport scene, but rawer.
OBJECTIVE
To create a single cover that communicates urgency and longing at first glance – without being literal. The image needed to feel like movement, like something slipping away.
APPROACH
The concept centered on a single rose shot with deliberate motion blur, the flower caught mid-fall, neither here nor there. A dusty, textured background in muted purples and charcoal grounds the image without competing with it. The title is set in a custom typeface built from hand-scanned lettering – soft, urgent, like a note left in a hurry.
Color direction followed the brief closely: a core of blues, reds, and pinks with darker tones supporting – warm enough to feel romantic, cool enough to feel like loss.
OUTCOME
A cover that stops the scroll – intimate, kinetic, and immediately readable as a love song with stakes. Delivered for international release across streaming platforms.
